Q&A

How long is the workshop, and what size will my finished rug be?

The workshop duration and finished rug size depend on the package selected during booking.

Available rug sizes may include:

  • 20 × 20 cm

  • 40 × 40 cm

  • 90 × 90 cm

Participants are expected to complete their rug within the workshop duration stated in their selected package.

The actual finished size may vary slightly depending on the shape and outline of the design.

What if I am not good at drawing or designing?

Do not worry. You do not need to be good at drawing to join our tufting workshop.

You may refer to suitable images online for inspiration and adapt them into your own design. Our crew members can advise you on whether your selected design is suitable for your rug size and workshop duration.

During the workshop, we will project the approved design onto the tufting cloth so that you can trace the main outlines before tufting.

Please send your proposed design to us through Instagram at @Tufting_Nuts at least five days before your workshop.

Our workshop provides tufting guidance and demonstrations only. We do not provide professional illustration, logo creation or custom design services.

Please respect the intellectual property rights of artists, designers and copyright owners. Designs should be used for personal workshop purposes only and should not be reproduced for commercial use without permission.

What kind of design should I choose?

Simple designs with clear outlines, larger shapes and fewer colours are generally easier to complete.

Designs with the following features may require more time:

  • Very small details

  • Thin lines

  • Complicated lettering

  • Realistic portraits

  • Many colour changes

  • Detailed backgrounds

  • Intricate patterns

Please refer to the Design Guide on our website before selecting your artwork.

Our crew members will review your design before the workshop. If the design is too detailed or difficult to complete within the selected session, you may be asked to simplify it or choose another design.

When should I submit my design?

Please send your design to @Tufting_Nuts on Instagram at least five days before your workshop date.

Submitting your design early gives our crew enough time to review its size, complexity, colours and suitability.

Designs submitted late may not be reviewed before the session. In such cases, you may need to simplify or change your design upon arrival.

What happens if I cannot finish my rug on time?

Please follow the guidance of our crew members and select a design that is suitable for your workshop package.

If your rug is not completed by the end of the scheduled session, you may choose one of the following options:

  1. Purchase additional workshop time at RM25 per 30 minutes, subject to availability.

  2. End the workshop and take the project as a semi-finished piece.

Additional time is not guaranteed, especially when another workshop session is scheduled after yours.

Will someone help me during the workshop?

Yes. Our crew members will explain how to use the equipment and guide you through the main steps of the tufting process.

However, this is a hands-on workshop. Participants are expected to operate the tufting gun and complete their own project.

Our crew members may provide instructions and limited assistance, but they will not complete the entire rug on behalf of a participant.

Can I bring someone with me to take photos or wait at the studio?

Due to limited studio space, equipment safety and the comfort of other participants, companions and non-participants are not permitted to remain inside the workshop area.

This includes companions who only wish to wait, watch or help take photographs.

Each person entering the workshop area must have a valid booking.

Can I bring children or pets into the workshop?

Children without a workshop booking and all pets are not permitted inside the workshop area.

The studio contains powered equipment, yarn, sharp metal components and other workshop materials. This rule helps us maintain a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.

Can two people share one workshop package?

Each workshop package is intended for one participant only.

Two people may not share one package or take turns operating the equipment. Every participant must make an individual booking.

Can my parent or companion help me complete my rug?

Parents and companions are not permitted to complete the artwork on behalf of a participant.

Our workshop is designed as an individual hands-on experience. Each registered participant should be able to follow instructions and operate the equipment with guidance from our crew members.

Is the completed rug ready to take home immediately?

The completion and collection process depends on the selected workshop package and finishing requirements.

Some rugs may require additional finishing work after the workshop. Our crew members will inform you of the estimated collection date once the rug has been completed.

Please wait for our collection notification before visiting the studio.

Can you deliver my completed rug?

Yes. Self-collection is our default option, but delivery can be arranged for an additional fee.

Delivery is available within Malaysia and Singapore. Shipping charges depend on the destination, rug size and courier requirements.

Please contact us through Instagram at @Tufting_Nuts to arrange delivery.
